| Aims and Activities
The
aims of the Federation include:-
- Promotion
of contacts between clubs, interclub visits, interchange of ideas
etc. including interstate contacts and involvement.
- Promotion
and recognition of photography generally and particularly as an
art form.
- Organising
gatherings and competitions for affiliated clubs, conventions,
seminars, workshops, etc.
- Anything
that may benefit the clubs and their members. The effectiveness
of the services provided vary, depending on a number of factors
including the degree of support from, and participation by, the
individual clubs.
The
principal activities are:-
- The
Annual Convention arranged each year by a different Host Club,
usually over the Easter long weekend. The convention includes
lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions of photography, tours and
the fellowship of persons with shared interests.
- The
Members' Exhibition of Photography. This is held in conjunction
with the convention where the “accepted” prints are
displayed and the slides projected. This is a competition open
to the individual members of affiliated clubs, with various sections
covering slides, monoprints and colour prints.
- The
Federation Interclub Competition of Photography. This is for club
entries, slides, mono and colour prints. After the judging, the
entries are displayed at a public venue that includes the Interclub
Dinner.
- The
Fellowship Weekend. A low priced weekend live-in get-together
where people can get together in small groups to “do their
own thing” with a minimum of “organized” activity.
- The
Federation newsletter“REFLEX” This is a newsletter of what is happening,
club news, technical articles etc. and is distributed to all members
of affiliated clubs.
- The
Slide Set/Folio Service. The Federation has a number of slide
sets, which are mainly copies of the acceptances in the “Interclub”
and “Wesfarmers/Lotteries National” competitions.
These are available on request from the Director of Slide Sets.
