Forough Yavari is an award-winning fine art portrait and fashion photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by her life experiences as a woman, Forough’s work focuses on portraying the narrative behind the lives of women from around the world. Born in Iran during the Iranian Revolution, Forough was passionate about art from a young age, drawing and painting imaginary subjects as a child. She went on to formally pursue painting in university, where she discovered her passion for photography while modelling for a photography student. Forough began creating digital art, combining her knowledge and technical expertise in painting and photography. In 2011, she moved to Australia, where she built her photography business and became established as an international photographer. Increasingly, she found her work to be influenced by her personal experience as a woman from a middle eastern country. Her works have been exhibited internationally in several exhibitions and art fairs including but not limited to the “LA Art Show”in LA, US, the “Context Art Fair” in Miami, US, and “Milan Image Art Fair” in Milan, Italy. In 2018, Forough was awarded the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) Master of Photography. She was awarded the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) Master of Photography in 2019, and the Double Master of Photography from WPPI in 2020. Various activities will be held throughout the weekend. Group numbers at Sunday workshops may be limited. We will endeavour to give attendees their first choice but this cannot be guaranteed and priority of application will count.
Saturday afternoon choices (3:30-4:30)
Option 1 Mark Brierley:
Presentation on Post-Production techniques for Architectural photography (McGrath lecture theatre 1)
Option 2 Steve Wise:
Hands-on studio portrait lighting - a chance to take your own shots (main hall and surrounds - models provided).
Option 3 Alex Cearns:
“Wildlife Travel Photography – Expectations vs Reality" (McGrath lecture theatre 2)
Sunday morning workshops (8:30/9 - 10:30)
Option 1 Alex Cearns at the Zoo:
The Zoo workshop consists of a bus to and from the zoo, an entry ticket and a practical guided workshop on animal portraits led by Alex Cearns. Bring your cameras.
Option 2 Mark Brierley at Curtin Uni:
The Curtin University workshop consists of a bus to and from Curtin, with a practical guided workshop on architectural photography led by Mark Brierley. Bring your cameras.
Option 3 Steve Wise at Community Hall:
The Steve Wise portrait lighting workshop in the main hall will consist of a presentation of Steve's portrait workflow from shooting through to print.
The conference fee is $240 pp with an earlybird rate of $220 if paid before 2 July.
This fee includes:
- Friday evening function, supper and optional shoot;
- Saturday morning tea, lunch and evening sit-down dinner, optional shoot,speakers and workshops;
- Sunday morning tea, speakers and workshops.
NON-ATTENDEE DINNER TICKETS
Only one attendee can be registered per submission. However, an attendee may bring a non-attending partner, relative or friend to the Saturday night dinner at a cost of $60. If you wish to do this then please tick the appropriate box at the end of the form.
PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY
Payment for this event can be made by PayPal or Credit Card. If you are paying by credit card please have your card ready to enter details BEFORE proceeding further or the booking form may time out and you will have to resubmit which may create a duplicate booking.
A 95% refund is applicable for any cancellations advised to the WAPF Treasurer before 28 July 2023. From 28 July to 11 August inclusive a 50% refund is applicable. There is no refund after 11 August although a swap to another person may be possible AFTER consultation with the organisers.
In the event that the conference has to be cancelled due to Covid-19 regulations or other circumstances beyond the control of organisers, the WAPF will absorb unavoidable costs up to the amount of its sponsorship.
Attendance fees will then be refunded prorate after deducting any remaining unavoidable costs from the collected fee pool.
